If you're anything like me, you're probably interested in trying a standing desk... but not quite so committed to the idea of standing all day that you'd be willing to throw out your office chair.
Which is why I'm so interested in the Lift. Now on Kickstarter, it's a gorgeous and elegant wooden desk gadget that allows you to convert your existing desk to and from a standing desk at will.
The Lift is developed by iSkelter, who previously developed what I consider to be the most beautiful and simple iPhone dock you can buy.
The Lift is similarly beautiful and simple. Five pieces of beautiful bamboo wood slot together to create an adjustable surface for your desk. If you want to use it as a standing desk, simply fold it up. Want to sit down? Easily collapse your Lift.
Better yet, it's customizable. If you want, the Lift can come with built-in iPhone and iPad docks, a beverage holder, a dry erase board, and more. And best of all, the Lift is pretty cheap: it starts at only $250, which is relatively cheap in the grand scheme of standing desks, which can often cost $1,000 or more.
Now taking pre-orders on Kickstarter, the Lift will begin shipping to customers in October. Look for Cult of Mac's review of the Lift sometime around then.
