My Favourite Gadget: The espresso coffee machine Andrew wouldn't be without

VIEW GALLERY

Web developer Andrew Wilcox wouldn't be without the espresso coffee machine he bought almost a year ago.

Andrew, who lives in Church Village, bought his espresso coffee machine as a late Christmas present for himself in January this year.

We caught up with Andrew at home and asked him about his favourite gadget.

What type of coffee machine did you buy?

It's a De'Longhi Espresso EC820

Where did you buy it from?

I bought it from John Lewis in Cardiff.

How much did it cost?

I paid £170.

What made you buy this particular make?

It took me about three months to decide as it was this or the bean to cup one - but that was a lot more expensive.

I looked at prices and trends before I bought it.

I have always wanted an espresso machine. I used to use a cafetiere and a stove-top machine before I bought this.

Why is it your favourite gadget?

It's my favourite gadget because it does exactly what I want it to do!

For my birthday I was bought a Burr coffee grinder so I able to grind the beans that I normally buy online.

I get a nice shot of espresso in the morning and throughout the day I can have weaker coffee. I prefer dark-roasted coffee beans and try to buy fair trade as much as I can.

It's also versatile. It heats up and froths milk, but I mainly use it for espressos, Americanos or flat whites.
