On the job with Bradley Wallace of Gadget Doctors in Huntsville

Name: Bradley Wallace

Age: 31

Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing with an E-Commerce minor from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Experience: More than 11 years. 'In 2002, I started an online company called PowerbookMedic. It is located in Huntsville, and has 15 employees. Initially, PowerbookMedic was a third party service option for people with out-of-warranty Apple laptops. (This was back when Apple wasn't cool.) iPod and iPhones soon came along and we were the first in the country to service those devices. As those markets grew, so did we. As gadget usage has exploded over the last few years, we started looking at providing standalone local options (as opposed to online only) and Gadget Doctors was born in 2013.

Job title: Owner

Employer: Gadget Doctors / PowerbookMedic.com, LLC

Number of employees: Gadget Doctors, 3; PowerbookMedic.com LLC, 15

Job description: 'I oversee operations and find new opportunities.'

Best perk: 'Feeling of accomplishment at starting a successful company.'

Ambition: 'My goal is to turn Gadget Doctors into a successful franchise that can be found in cities nationwide.'

Best advice received: 'You'll get out of it what you put into it.'

Best advice to give: 'There's always something you can do. If you find you have nothing to do, then you're doing something wrong.'

It's a bad day when: 'Every day is an adventure with ups and downs. When I don't wake up, now that will be a bad day.'

It's a good day when: 'Every day is a good day, but it's a particularly good day when I get to steal out of the office a little early to spend time with my family.'

Role models: 'My parents. None of us would be who we are without our parents. I was particularly gifted, however. My parents encouraged me every step of the way and showed me firsthand the value of a strong work ethic.'

Working on: 'We're currently working on developing a process to replace just the glass on display assemblies that have the glass panel fused to the digitizer and LCD. By replacing just the glass we can cut customer repair costs in half. The process however is incredibly complex and different for every device. We've just about perfected the process for the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy phones and are in the process of unrolling those services'.
