Google Now is the notification center on Android and iOS that knows all about you. It knows you're taking a flight later and that it's running late. It knows that your commute home is about to become a horrid mess and alerts you that maybe you should leave work now. It would be creepy if it wasn't so helpful.
Now you can get Google Now on your computer via Chrome. All it takes is a download.
First grab the Chrome Beta. Once you have it installed, you'll need to sign into Chrome with your Google account. Click on the three horizontal bars in the top right hand corner of the browser's window. Towards the bottom of the contextual menu you'll see 'Sign in as (your Google username).' Do that.
When prompted to sync your Chrome information click, 'Ok sync everything.' Now you'll get system notifications just like you would on iOS or Android. The Google Now notification center resides in the top menu bar on the Mac. On Windows it's stationed in the bottom right hand corner of the Task Bar.
The only downside is that Chrome needs to be running for Google Now to work. Shutting it down will also kill the Google Now notification center. But at least now you know how long it'll take to get home before getting in the car.
