Gadgets: Hottest toys of 2014

KUSA - Toy Guy Chris Byrne is our featured guest for this edition of Gadget Day as he shares some of the top toys for 2014, starting with some very happy plush pets.

The Happy's

The Happy's are adorable motorized pets that really play with you, just like real pets. Happy's do lots of tricks. They chase a ball, beg, chase their tail, pounce, wiggle and even do the Happy Dance! They have cute sounds effects too. Each treat unlocks a different trick. The more treats, the more tricks the Happy's will perform. Byrne predicts this will be the most have for this year's Christmas season.

Pound Puppies

These guys first made their debut in the 1980's and inspired an animated tv special, tv series and feature film. Kids everywhere wanted to adopt the loveable pups who needed tons of love. A generation later, these are still great products for kids, stimulating imaginative play and being just plain adorable. This Pound Puppy is so happy to see its owner it barks and wags its tail. The 13-inch pup comes with a puppy name tag and adoption certificate. Choose from four different styles.

Max Liquidator

Don't be fooled by its appearance. The Max Liquidator is the ultimate water blaster disguised as an innocent foam pool noodle. Pull on the handle to load it with water and take aim. The water can travel up to 30 feet-that's almost the entire length of the pool. Its patented water blaster features make it easy for people of all ages to use. It's safe, soft, and fun.

Unlike other water blasters, which are usually made of plastic, the Max Liquidator is made of soft foam, ensuring that the only casualties of kids' water wars will be someone getting soaked. When the water games are over, kids can use the Max Liquidator as a regular pool noodle. It's two toys in one.

Gazillion Bubbles Streamin' Bubbles

The Gazillion Bubbles Streamin' Bubbles from Funrise is a battery-powered bubble blower. It comes with a four-ounce bottle of Gazillion Bubbles solution, which you'll need to attach to the front of the blower before use. To use, you'll first need to slowly pump the trigger to bring the solution to the blower. Then, hold down the trigger to release an endless stream of bubbles. The bubbles will stop when you release the trigger.

The more bubbles, the better and that's exactly what this toy offers. It doesn't require a lot of effort to start creating bubbles and provides a steady stream of bubbles to chase and pop. The Gazillion Bubbles Streamin' Bubbles is for ages 3 and up.

Wacky-tivities Kinetic Sand

Spin Master has added a new product to its Wacky-tivities line called Kinetic Sand. This box comes with two pounds of Kinetic Sand to work with. Kinetic sand is made of 98 percent sand and two percent polymer. This sand is easy to mold; never dries out; wheat-, gluten-, and casein-free, and the best part-your hands stay clean.

Kinetic Sand is a really fun and tactile compound for anyone to play with. It molds easily so it encourages creative and artistic play, and because its properties make it soft and stretchy it can also be therapeutic while encouraging fine motor skills.

Nerf N-Strike Mega Series N-Strike Elite Magnus

The Nerf N-Strike Mega Series N-Strike Elite Magnus blaster shoots mega-sized foam darts. It comes with three. To load, pull the slide back to open the chamber, insert the three darts in the chamber, and close completely. Then, you're ready to blast. You're going to need to pull the slide back between each shot to position the dart in the chamber and cock the blaster.Like all Nerf blasters, it is well-designed and well-balanced, making it easy for kids to use and satisfying in a blaster battle.
