My gadget of the fortnight has to be Google Glass, the search giant's voice-operated, spectacle-style mini-computer. The Explorer program for beta users was extended to the UK two weeks ago, having been available in the US for over a year.
I have been using Glass since the beginning of May and found the experience really educative.
It's important to set expectations realistically. This is an emerging technology and if you're looking for something that is a complete service ready to use on a day-to-day basis, Glass is not for you - yet.
If, on the other hand, you're involved with understanding emerging technologies and the impact they will have on the financial advice market, the £1,000 price tag will be money well spent.
You need to work with Glass for at least a month before you reach the stage where having a tiny screen just to the right of your field of vision merges into your overall view.
Using the device does signal that screen sizes may again be about to head in a different direction.
While smartphones have come with ever larger screens, wearable devices look destined to reverse this trend, so developers need to start thinking about different ways to present information. See http://ift.tt/1oDGyU4
